Bringing Financial Literacy to Homeschooled Teens Across Australia
Our FinReady workshops for Homeschool Hotline and their HERRD Kids program taught homeschooled teens goal setting, budgeting, payslips, debt and investing basics, online, across regional and remote Australia.

At My Financial Future, we believe all young Australians should have access to practical money education, regardless of where they live or their learning style. That is why our workshops with Homeschool Hotline and their HERRD Kids program have been one of the most rewarding parts of our year.
Our first workshop: goals, budgeting and payslips
In March 2026, we delivered our first FinReady workshop for Homeschool Hotline students, covering three essential money foundations young people need before entering adulthood. These were goal setting, budgeting, and understanding their payslip. Most young people in Australia never get the opportunity to learn these skills in a traditional school setting, and for homeschooled teens in regional and remote areas, the gap is much wider.
Back in September: debt, saving and investing
For this reason, we returned in September with a second online workshop. This time, we covered financial topics such as debt management, saving strategies, and the basics of investing. We delivered the session online and reached students in regional and remote Australia who would otherwise have had limited access to this kind of practical financial education.
Hands-on and practical
Both workshops were hands-on, real-world applications rather than theoretical. As a result, students left with practical skills they could use right away, whether that was building their first budget, understanding how debt works, or taking their first steps toward saving with purpose.
What Homeschool Hotline said
The Founder and Programs Coordinator of Homeschool Hotline and HERRD Kids shared a testimony on how effective the FinReady workshop has been for her students:
“We invited Yasmine from My Financial Future to present a Money and Finance workshop for our homeschool teens, and it was a fantastic experience. Yasmine struck the perfect balance between teaching financial principles and providing hands-on, real-world activities, keeping students engaged throughout the session. The workshop encouraged our teens to think about their financial futures, set meaningful money goals, and develop practical skills around employment, budgeting, and financial decision-making. I highly recommend Yasmine and My Financial Future to any group looking to empower young people with essential life skills.”
